This movie was the direct follow-up for They Live by Night, depicting a different way of implementing the theme of Lovers on the Run. Martin Sheen (or should I say James Dean?) did a great job being a typical greaser on the one hand, while denying any form of sexual tension throughout the whole movie - they first and only kiss takes place at around 2/3 of the running time and thats it.
While one could analyse the blending, interweaved elements of different genres in They Live by Night, the partition and distinction of typical genre elements is way more clearer and deliberately done in Badlands.
I will add my observations to my article on the lecture of Prof. Martin on Lovers on the Run

Wes Anderson's Bottle Rocket (1996)

I found this little gem today on my harddrive, totally forgotten I had this movie.
While watching this movie, I was constantly reminded of Wes Anderson's Darjeeling Limited (2007) and blown away by the similarities and parallels it showed narratively, let alone that Owen Wilson played in both movies. I have to admit that I was not aware, that Bottle Rocket is by Wes Anderson as well - shame on me!
Considering that it was not only Anderson's debut as a director but also the Wilson's debut in a feature film I really enjoyed the movie. It was very interesting for me to see how Wes Anderson has developed from the start, since I first got to know Anderson's later work - very soothing to see that despite the difference regarding the budgets, Anderson still managed to convey and stabilize his unique signature.

Bryan Fuller's Hannibal S2 E12 Tome-wan (2014)

Oh, the goosebumps! "If you can't break him, join him". Towards the end of season two, Will once more has not forgotten, what Hannibal did to him ( although I ask myself, if Hannibal wanted to harm him - in his perverted understanding of friendship of course). Finally Will is the game-changer, holding the reins. The curiosity about what would happen circulates from Hannibal to Will and finally to the viewer.
